A green oasis in the midst of a vast wasteland is what best describes Saharia Organic Resort. Situated some 22.5 kms from Jaipur and in a pollution free environment, Saharia Organic Resort was born out of a desire to create a self sustaining organic farm that will not only produce organic foods but will also educate the villagers and farmers about its benefits.

  

Spread over 18 hectares of land with more than 10000 different varieties oftrees, the resort presents a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere that is ideal for mediating, reading and writing. With the underlying theme being "surviving as one with nature", the resort presents an ambience that is in tune with the rural surroundings. The resort is equipped with nine fully functional cottage style rooms and bathrooms all done painstakingly in a style that befits the environment of organic farming. All its rooms done in an earthen style-with mud, clay and thatched roof stay cool in very harsh summers and remain warm in severe winters, thereby doing away with the A/C's and heaters. To top it all, the cottages and huts also come with a solar lighting system and a fully equipped kitchen, where you can cook your own meals on firewood or natural gas.

At the resort, visitors get a chance to interact with volunteers from international volunteer organizations and to contribute their bit in the working of the organic farm. They can also plant a tree in their own name or go on a Village Safari tour on a camel rides or on a Jeep. Besides, they also get a chance to learn the finer points about the local cuisine and hone their cooking skills. At the resort, organic food grown on the farm is served as also the tea, which comes from their sister plantation in Assam.

Some of the methodology or practices followed in farm :

• Biodynamic preparations are used for improving the fertility of the soil and for growth promotion.
• Vrakshayurveda - (ancient Indian science of agriculture) methods, like Kunapa, are also practiced.
• Agnihotra (fire ceremony) is also performed at sunrise and sunset.
• Composting methods like liquid manure, vermiculture, NEDAP pits etc.
• Organically maintained Swimming pool with neem (Azadirachta indica ) leaves, which also fertilizes the fields.
• Animals on the farm - goats for milk, cows for milk, cow dung and cow urine and camel for carrying goods.
• We make bird nest boxes to invite owls to keep the rat population under control.
