Kalsi Lakhamandal Trek

Renowned for its temple ruins, Lakhamandal situated on the banks of river Yamuna is often associated with the Lakhshagriha that is described in Mahabharata. The story goes that the Kaurava Prince Duryodhana had built a lac palace here, in which he tried to burn his cousins- the Pandavas alive. The Pandavas, however managed to escape through a secret passage, which the locals say still exists even today. An important attraction of Lakhamandal is its temple dedicated to Bhagwati and Lord Shiva. The best time to visit the temple is during the local Diwali, which is generally held one Tour Bookingmonth after the Diwali in the plains.
