Inaccessible for centuries and one of the most untouched and least explored regions of Ladakh, Zanskar is gradually emerging as a favorite trekking destination. Providing glimpses of Tibetan Buddhism with its handful of Gompas and frescos, the Zanskar region is steeped deep in myth and rich in imagery. Located high up in the Himalayas, the only way to travel to Zanskar is either by pony or by foot. The two main routes leading in to Zanskar, despite the region's isolation are those from Kargil and from Manali to Padum.

Itinerary :

Delhi- Chandigarh- Manali- Darcha- Chalang Tokpo - Zanskar Sumdo- Chuminapo- Shingo La- Lakonng- Kurgiak- Bapul- Purne- Phutkal Gompa- Purne- Ichar-Mune- Padum- Ringdom Gompa- Kargil- Saspol- Leh- Delhi
(19 nights-20 days)

Day 01: Delhi/Chandigarh/Manali (Train/Coach)

Leave Delhi in the early morning for Chandigarh. Arrive at Chandigarh and then drive straight to Manali (1920M/338 kms). Check into hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02: Manali

Morning at leisure; visit places like Hadima devi temple, Vashisht Hot Springs, Club house etc. Overnight stay in hotel.

Zanskar Trek, Zanskar Valley Trekking, Trekking in ZanskarDay 03: Manali-Darcha (Jeep)

After breakfast drive 140 kms to reach Darcha (3400M) via Rohtang pass enjoying the beauty around. Reach Darcha by late afternoon. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 04: Darcha/Chalang Tokpo (Trek)

After breakfast begins the easy trek to Chalang Tokpo (3580M). Overnight stay in tents.

Day 05: Chalang Tokpo/Zanskar Sumdo/Ramjak (Trek)

Morning after breakfast start an easy trek to Zanskar Sumdo (3750M). Proceed to Ramjak., total trekking time is approx. 7-8 hours. Overnight stay in tents.

Day 06: Ramjak/Chumikanakpo (Trek)

After breakfast, start trek to reach Chumikanakpo (4060M) in about 5-6 hours. Climb steeply immediately after the Campsite and then climb gradually upto Chumikanakpo. Arrive and overnight stay in tents.

Day 07: Chumikanakpo/Shingola/Lakonng (Trek)

Morning after an early breakfast start trekking 16 Kms to reach Lakong (4100M) via Shingo La (5100m). A long and tiring trek it takes about 7-8 hours approx. Arrive and overnight stay in tents.

Day 08: Lakong/Kurgiak (Trek)

Reach Kurgiak (4060 M) by covering approx. 14 Kms in 6-7 hours approx. Arrive and overnight in stay tent.

Day 9: Kurgiak/Purne (Trek)

Morning after breakfast start trekking to reach Purne (3745M) in about 5-6 hours. Arrive and overnight stay in tents.

Day 10: Purne/Phuktal Gompa/Purne (Trek)

After breakfast trek for an excursion to Phutkal Gompa -one the most impressive Gompas in Ladakh by covering approx 14 kms. Return back to Purne and camp overnight.

Day 11: Purne/Ichar (Trek)

Arrive at Ichar in 5-6 hours approx by passing through small Canyons of Pudding stones, (Char village) Hanumi and Surle villages.Overnight stay in tents.

Day 12: Ichar/Mune (trek)

Reach Mune (3650 M) in 5-6 hours approx .Arrive and overnight stay in tents.

Day 13: Mune / Padum (Trek)

Morning after breakfast start trekking to reach Padum (3560 M) - the old capital of Zanskar. Arrive and overnight stay in tents.

Day 14: Padum / Ringdom Gompa (Jeep)

Drive 140 kms to visit to reach Ringdom Gompa (4100 M).Overnight stay in tents.

Day 15: Ringdom / Kargil (Jeep)

Drive 160 kms to visit to reach Kargil (3700 M) . Rest and overnight stay in hotel

Day 16: Kargil / Saspol (Jeep)

Morning after breakfast drive to reach Saspol by covering 168 kms. En-route visit Lamayuru Monastery. Camp overnight.

Day 17: Saspol / Leh (Jeep)

Visit Alchi Gompa. Proceed to Leh (62 kms) after lunch and visit the Likir Gompa enroute. Arrive at Leh in the evening for overnight stay in hotel.

Day 18: Leh

Sight-seeing. Visit Leh Palace, Leh Gompa, bazaar and the Spituk and Phyang Gompas. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 19: Leh

After breakfast leave for full day excursion to Shey, Tiksey and Hemis Gompas. Return to hotel in the afternoon. Even free for shopping etc. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 20: Leh / Delhi

Leave Leh for Delhi. In the afternoon, half day combined city tour of Old & New Delhi
