
Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, Haryana located on Delhi-Jaipur highway. It is also known as haven to different types of domestic and migratory birds. The place is 46 km from Delhi the national capital of the country. It is well connected by roads with Delhi and Gurgaon. It was a haunt of very own birdman Late Dr.Salim Ali.
Artificially created mound have made the place green everglade. The low coastal grassland has been converted into a water body. In last few years hundreds of different types of birds have come to this place to stay. During winter season many birds from Siberia come to this place mainly Siberian Crane. A group of geese also come to the place from Europe. The birds here include darters, egrets shovellers, gadwell and geese dominate. Teals, kingfishers, lapwings, sandpipers demoiselle cranes ruddy shelducks, pelicans, flamingoes, bar-headed geese, grey lags, mallards, pochards. Local species include plovers, red-wattled lapwings, herons, cormorants, white ibises, spoonbills and painted storks and such like water birds nestle in. Other wildlife in the park include blackbuck, nilgai, hog deer, sambar, wild dog or dhole, caracal, wild cat, hedgehog, mongoose, striped hyena, Indian porcupine, rattle/honey badger, leopard, wild pig, and four horned antelope.
100 different types of birds have been seen here. There comes number of birds to observe these birds here. One can see towers and a museum and hide outs also. Museum is mainly for those who are keen on serious studies. There are Guest rooms and catering wing also available here.
The climate at this place is tropical. In summers it becomes very hot and in winters it is Chilly cold. Monsoon begins in July and lasts till September. The best time to visit the park is in winters that is September to March. During winters the chances of seeing the exclusive wildlife is more.
The location of the park is latitude 28°37' North and longitude 77°04' East. The vegetation of this park is also tropical and dry deciduous. The flora includes grasses, dhok, khair, tendu, ber, jamun, acacia, and banyan tree.
Sultanpur bird Sanctuary has been developed to around near Sultanpur Lake. The lake is a very good picnic spot for residents of Delhi. Boating facilities are also available here. There are large number of reptiles.
There are many tourist attraction places near the place. Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Rashtrapati Bhaw
an, Qutub Minar, Bahai Temple, Rajghat, India Gate and Jantar Mantar and many other places. There are other places which can be visited like museums, libraries, art galleries, theaters and educational institutions.

To reach to the place by rail bearest railway station is Gurgaon 15 km from the place. It is very well connected to Delhi and many other places in Haryana and Rajasthan by regular trains.
